What's the cost of taking the wrong investment?

Last Friday, we hosted a Q&A with three of our Alt Funding School graduates: Sarah, Sophie, and Tilley. All at different stages. All building wildly inspiring, impact-led businesses. All once wondering, “Is the Alt Funding School worth the investment?”

Sophie came from a media background and had no clue where to begin with raising money. After the course, she not only raised funding on her terms but also turned down investors who didn’t align with her goals.
→ She raised 103% of her target in just ONE week
→ Got some incredible female angels onboard
→ Pitched at Daring Capital, an impact-first angel syndicate and won funding

“Yes, I want to be a profitable business, but that's not my motivation for setting up the company, and I wouldn't do it at any cost, which legally you are expected to if you receive VC investment.”

"I wanted to make sure that if I did fundraise, it's with the right investors who share my values, who believe in the impact we are trying to make, and who back me; I want to know that anybody on my cap table is my supporter and isn't going to try and encourage me to take a different direction than what I believe this business needs."

Sophie shared some real GOLD in our session. Hit play to hear how being around those who got it wrong helped her figure out how to get it right — on her own terms.
